My first invention was called the Double Tumble dryer. I sent this one to a company called Davidson. They told me you are on to something a pretty good idea. I liked it, but sure could not build it. They dragged me along and told me they would handle everything. So when it’s your first one, you can’t believe what you are hearing.
Months and moneys paid to this company turned out to be another beating, scam. They called me and told me they found a major company to take on my invention. I’m bragging to my family how I’m going to be rich. I’m going to be able to send my kids to college. My daughter was so excited. I sent them drawings and described how this should be designed.
We have a Hugh company Maytag is interested. Now I go from a dreamer to possibly getting this idea in stores down the line. We had a family of seven growing, so we were always behind when it came to drying clothes. So that’s where the idea came from in the first place. You could dry two loads at the same time. This Dryer was all one piece one on top the other, just two dryers at the same time. Kind of like a washer-dryer in condos and different places. Same idea.
So after many letters and back and forth with the Davidson company! I’m probably thirty-five at this time and married with two children. I have no possible way of building this appliance with my skills. It was just that, an idea. If I could have made one, I would not have to be a dreamer, i would have already been building it without Davidson. I’m just somebody with ideas. I thought it was something homes could use.
Davidson and I are still going back and forth mind you. I’m already figuring out how I’m going to spend some of the money. Life is going to change. Not so fast, here we go again. I get a call from Davison and they are going to need thirty Thousand Dollars to start the process of building the Double Tumble Dryer. I don’t have thirty thousand, I don’t even have a thousand to pay for this dream. I need the engineers at Maytag to build it. So another invention not going to happen. (beating…)
So it would have looked like the one in the image above. Only this would have been two dryers. I think within about 4 years after this idea, the stackable dryers came on the market. Kind of knew that would happen. You almost have to be able to make your idea come to light yourself in order to have a chance of it being successful.
The only reason I am throwing this out there is because my next invention I did make and design myself. Now this one, the rafter joist hanger for storage works great, but now I need to be a marketer. I was lucky enough to graduate from high school. I did not go to college. I was selling lumber and making 20,000. dollars a year at twenty years old. Back then that was good money. That was my college Lol
I am very successful, and I will get into some of the winners here soon. I just am getting some shit off my mind. Now that I’m kind of retired I am reflecting on what could have been. When you are an entrepreneur, you are inventing things all the time. You mind never shuts down lol
